The Newset in Pleasure Technology

I challenge you to watch this video and not be just a little turned on.

This is the Stronic Eins from Fun Factory. In a nut shell, it’s kind of like a fucking machine you can keep in your bedside table.

You can check out a review of the Stronic Eins here.

Porn vs. Erotic film

In October 2013 I attended an inspiring conference for the Journalism and Women’s Symposium (JAWS). The keynote speaker for our conference was feminist activist Gloria Steinem. I very much enjoyed hearing her speak and was inspired by much of what she said.

One aspect of her speech I disagreed with was the idea that all porn is bad and unhealthy. Of course I understand there are LOTS of bad porn movies out there, but I don’t think you should discredit all porn. When I asked her about her opinion of feminist porn, she said the root word for “porn” was associated with the idea of the objectification of female sexuality, which makes porn anti-feminist.

While I respect her wanting to advocate against objectifying female sexuality, I think root-word argument is a moot point. How many words do we use on a daily basis without understanding their root word? Porn isn’t always synonymous with material that degrades and objectifies women. Porn can be hardcore and feminist, in my opinion.

That is one of many reasons why I am so excited that Erika Lust, and many other production companies are making sexy movies for us all to enjoy.

Erika Lust is an independent adult filmmaker. Her movies feature sexy, consensual shorts with people and stories you can relate to. Not to mention many of her films are in Spanish. Orgasms and cultural exploration go well together.

In the video below, Molly Adler of selfservetoys.com asks Erika Lust about how she distinguishes her movies from most porn one might find on the Internet for free. Erika Lust probably deals with this issue frequently and I definitely enjoyed her response.

BREAKING: Women like porn too! And Pat Robertson is confused about that.

This is one of those videos that I watch, and I’m not sure whether to feel enraged at the way Pat Robertson and his co-host, Kristi Watts, conceptualize and discuss women, or to laugh at his utter confusion at the idea that women are sexual human beings, just like men (or boys, as he refers to them).

So I just decided not to let this very confused elderly gentleman get under my skin, and instead I’ll try to clear up some misconceptions Robertson seems to have about women and humans in general.

PornHub turns your porn viewing into charity

PornHub is a porn site. So they know how much people like breasts. They get to see how many people each day search for videos that feature breasts on their site.  With that knowledge, the website has decided to do something about making breasts healthier.

During the month of October, the site will donate 1 cent to a breast cancer research charity for every 30 videos viewed from the ‘big tit’ and ‘small tit’ categories.

PornHub has not made it clear on its website to which  charity they will donate.

The move is likely to get a lot of attention based on a report from Metro.us.

“According to Pornhub, the site gets on average 70 to 90 millions (sic) viewers per month on the ‘small tit’ and ‘big tit’ categories, so yeah, you do the math. We’re too busy looking at porn.”

I wish the porn on PornHub was of a more consistent quality, so peruse at your own risk. But hey, no one could blame you because it’s for breast cancer research!

Sexnology (sex+technology) scores one for long distance partners

Long distance love might be a little more intimate through Lovepalz’ new product that ‘connects’ two people through Bluetooth technology, a few pressure and speed sensors and as Technabob.com put it, “teledildonic technology.”

The company designed a two-part sex toy that can be synched through Bluetooth on a mobile device through an app, with video chat of course. The app sends one partner’s speed and pressure ratings to the other partner’s device, which dictates the speed or pressure of the other partner’s toy.
